In your case, setup WINS in both sites.

On which side. I have a domain running on the side that the server sits - (my
location) and then I have the domain at the remote location I am trying to
join. when I run WINS locally at my location still does not work and I added
a static host to the server for the remote domain controller. am I missing
something?
