Re: 2003 DC Multihomed - 1 Nic won't answer - help!!

No no nat, internally on the lan there is no problem, with the gateway

routing packets from a remote location through a sonicwall appliance.
Everything works fine except this one server, a critical one - of
course :) If the gateway is pointed at my internal network gateway
through the appliance then users on the other side can see and get to
all the things they need to but the other folks who are remote but
don't come through the pipe, rather through the public network cannot
access anything from the public nic, but if the gateway is pointed at
the public then the public works but the then it is like the internal
nic isn't there, it doesn't respond to traffic through the pipe,
internal local traffic is unaffected. This has me pulling my hair out
:)

So if I get the picture right it is something like this, you're actually
dealing with three IP Subnets?

IPsubnet1 IPSubnet2
IPSubnet3

Public<gateway< SERVER >internal<------>Firewall<-----Internal Clients

Add a persistant Static route to IPsubnet3 Network's address giving the
Firewall's IP as the Gateway to the subnet

Here's a sample:
route ADD <IPsubnet3ID> MASK 255.255.255.0 <firewalIP> METRIC 3 IF 2
destination^ ^mask
^gateway metric^ ^

Interface^
For help with these commands at a command prompt type route ?

If you install RRAS as a router you can use RRAS to add a static route using
the GUI
