Have you been switching out network cards lately? Maybe on this
server? I have had this problem before when I removed HP network cards
from a server/PC and then installed an intel card. The HP card is not
truely removed and the server/pc still has the hp configuration stored
somewhere. The problem is that the NIC is now hidden/ghost since it
is removed and you need to find a way to show this hidden device. The
way to avoid this in the future is to remove the device and drivers
before you physically remove the card and install the new one.
Does your server/PC's show "Local Area Connection 2"? This would
indicate that there is another configuration stored on the server/PC
because of the 2.

We have a duplicate IP address warning showing up on our server 2003
standard. It has dhcp, dns, and ISA installed on it. We have one dlink
print server on the network. I have the server set up in dhcp with a
reserved IP address for both the internal NIC. I also have a script file
clearing the arp cache on every machine on logon while setting static arp
entries for the server. UPNP and SSDP has been disabled on the entire
network. The MAC address the duplicate IP address error refers to is not
anywhere on the network in fact, we are using intel cards on the entire
network with the exception of the dlink print server which is dlink 301 print
server, and the mac address suggests that Dlink has the registration to this
mac address. This error shows up periodically with no regularity or
consistent frequency. This has been plaguing us for about 3 months now, any
ideas would be greatly appreciated.
