It's been a long time, but from what I remember, when I did an ipconfig /all
I used to see the address of my router listed as the default gateway, now I
see the address of my ISP
I tried setting my router's IP as the default and connectivity was lost.
So I set it back to the ISP by releasing\renewing
I went to the admin page of my router and noticed that it had 0.0.0.0 for
the following;
IP
subnet
default gateway
I tried forcing release/renew on my router but it still comes up with
0.0.0.0
Is that indicative of a problem? Could my ISP be blocking the use of
routers?
I'm not a networking expert, so this may be no big deal, but it seems
strange to me...
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?
Of course, I have restarted everything in what I believe to be the correct
order.
Thanks,
Steve
It sounds to me like you (or somebody) changed some wiring. Make sure
the WAN connection of the router goes to the "modem" and that the PC
is hooked into (one of) the LAN connection(s) on the router.
