VPN total newbie question

I got my network side set up to be able to receive VPN connections. (using
ISA server 2004) and tested internet connection OK.

Question is exactly what does the guy with the laptop away from office do
(besides plugging in to internet) on his computer to obtain VPN acces. I
could not find any step by step docs on this.

Any help appreciated.

Bob
