RE: can't browse domain

thanks Tom,
thanks for the suggestion, here's my results.
i stopped and started the browser service, didn't have to disable the
firewall service as it already was, restarted the server, same problem
worked my way through that article:
the pdc is the master browser, and is on the same network segment as the
misbehaving server. i can map network between the misbehaving server, the pdc
and another computer.
from step 2.
the master browser doesn't have the server's name in it's list. forcing an
announcement from another computer, and doing an announcement from the
console of the missing server's console had no effect. the announce from the
console said: "toggling local server status bits to 20000 and then to 20000."
but it still didn't appear in the list.
from step 3.
the master browser is the pdc, so running browstat getpdc.... just returned
the name of the pdc, it worked from another pc, interestingly when run from
the missing server it said: "unable to get PDC: access is denied"
from step 6.
the browstat locallist command returned no entries, but when i did the
browstat view... |findstr /i bbr it returned a list of backup browsers, none
of which have the missing server in their list

this server is one of our exchange servers, so removing it and re-adding it
to the domain will be a problem i think
