I'm assuming that running "netstat -an" on the server
shows port 25/tcp in listening state on the address
you're using as your telnet target (or on 0.0.0.0); now
if that's true there must be something blocking port 25
did you check if the w2k3 firewall is enabled or if there's
a portfiltering or IPSec port blocking policy active ?
