It's quite possible the workstation is the backup master browser
for the domain. If you disable the computer browser on the XP
machine it will no longer attempt to maintain the browse list but
still register with the SMB to make it's presence known. Open
a dos prompt on the PDC emulator and run nbtstat -n; do you
see a domain name 1d entry? Not do the same on the client
machine. Is there a 1d entry?
