I think $60 is a bit high for just the price of the router alone as they are
commonly available at around $30 as shown in the link below from a company
that a buy a lot from and they ship very fast.

Otherwise install the free for personal use Zone Alarm Firewall and then go
back to the site he used and occasionally try it again to make sure the
firewall is properly configured. If you are using XP just enable the built
in ICF firewall and you are done. For right now however be sure to disable
file and print sharing on your computer since you are a single computer.---
