    You can use special permissions to do such. The key to special permissions
    is that you can have a user/group listed more than once. Once for say
    permissions to folders only and then again for permissions to files only.
    Special permissions are available in the advanced page of the security page
    and in the "apply onto" box you can select exaclty what the special
    permissions apply to. So do not give the group create folders/append data
    for folders, but make sure they have it for files. --- Steve
