Hi Ed,
Windows 2000 and newer (Windows XP) can work without any problem in Windows
2003 network and vice-versa.
Windows 2003 active directory uses SMB signing and encryption for additional
security. To also gain other features of active directory in Win9x clients
you have to install Active Directory client.
