Why not think about centralising your backups at the head office with a
product like NSI Doubletake or Veritas Remote Replicator..
IE... you replicate your data back to your main storage server, then backup
only the storgare server at HO
This way you can always be sure your backsup are done properly, and you only
have to manage one set of tapes

will soon have 4 satellite offices averaging 5 employees each. My plan is to
use VPN routers at each to connect to our domain. Each office has broadband
internet, either business class cable or dsl. I will be setting up snap
servers at each remote for backup purposes.

domain control over those remote office PCs but I don't want to kill the
bandwidth. I also can't afford a DC at each location. How cumbersome are
logons over the VPN? I will use folder redirection to the snap servers for
the user's home folders (docs & settings) to cut down on the traffic. Am I
worrying over nothing since people can usually VPN over dial-up easy enough?
