You're close, but you're missing one piece. For the Internet connection,
this won't work unless your broadband router is doing NAT and allows you
multiple internal connections (which most home accounts don't allow). I'd
pick up a cheap and cheerful broadband firewall/router - a NetGear FR114P is
about $80USD. It will do NAT and DHCP and allow you to share the Internet
connection, as well as protect your network from unauthorized intruders.

Another option, which would require two NICs in one computer, is to use
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). I'm not a fan of this when routers have
gotten so cheap, as it turns one computer into a router and requires that it
be functional and running in order to let the other computer access the
Internet.
