Re: Renaming a domain

We only have one DC in the exchange.local domain. The other servers are not
member servers of the exchange.local domain or any other domain. They were
setup years ago as members of our accounting workgroup.

We have 25 Windows XP Pro clients that are members of five different
workgroup but are not members of the exchange.local domain.

However, Windows XP users have an account in the exchange.local domain for
local Exchange email. Our external email is handled by our ISP.

Thanks, Brad

Hello sroaIT,

Please describe a bit more your environment, how many DC's in total, are
all member servers in workgroups and also the clients. It sounds that you
have mix of workgroup machines connecting to the domain remote with RDP or
how do they connect?

Best regards

I would like to rename a Windows 2003 domain. It is currently named
Exchange.local because the company decided to move to an Exchange
email server about a month before I was hired. Now we have 25 users
with Exchange email but all computer (including two other Windows 2003
servers) are all in different workgroups. All users login locally to
their Windows XP Pro computer for authenication. Each user has
separate logins on each server.

Is there a way that the Exchange.local can be renamed? Do I need to
wait until I get another server to create a new domain?

Thanks, Brad
