Migration scenario - Windows 2000 to Windows 2008 Single domain name

Hi All,

I have a Windows 2000 Single Domain Name with Exchange 2000.

I want to migrate to Windows 2008 and Exchange 2007sp1.

I read that Single Domain Name is not recommanded and renaming a
domain is not possible with Exchange 2000 and 2007. What is the best
scenario?

Migrate to a new domain? or

inplace upgrade? that means upgrade domain to 2003 then Exhange to
2003. Rename domain. And migrate Exchange to 2007 and then the
domain to 2008. :-(

Thanks all for your input
.
