Morgan is out of office currently, this is Neo and I will continue to work
with you on this issue.

Based on my experience, the only workaround we recommend under this
scenario is to promote another server to second DC (Let's call this DC as
temporary DC) in your domain. And then, all the AD related information will
be synchronized on the second DC by AD replication. After you rebuild your
current server, you could promote it to DC again and all the AD related
information will be replicated back from the temporary DC. You could also
keep the temporary DC in your domain if necessary.

Actually, for critical business domain environment, it is recommended to
build at least two or more than two DCs in one domain. Also, full backup on
each server should be performed regularly.

I hope this helps.

By the way, this issue is not under Windows server migration scenario. In
the future, we'd like to suggest you post AD related issues in our AD
newsgroups.
