| Hi Ken,
|
| Thanks for help so far, the document is very good.
|
| Am currently in the process of Installing a test NT 4 server and a test
| Windows 2003 R2 server.
|
| I have read the notes and am creating an edited list of steps unique to
the
| setup we require.
|
| It all seems quite clear as to the steps I need to take however I have a
few
| queries about the DNS setup and would be grateful for some clarification
on
| these issues.
|
| As mentioned the client has another site which currently provides them
with
| their DNS. As such DNS is not required on their new server however I do
know
| that it is required for Active Directory. The server will be a new domain
in
| a new forest and completely seperate to the other company. Links are made
| through the router to the other sites DNS server - presume this is on a
linux
| box.
|
| I realise that the DNS on the 2003 R2 server will need to be configured
in
| some way however I am unsure as to how to do this or what settings need
| changed.
|
| Running DCPromo there is a setting to which can be selected to manually
set
| the DNS. I have not installed DNS on the 2003 R2 server as yet and am not
| sure if I have to.
|
| Have found otherdocuments which relate to the DNS and all say it needs
setup
| manually however none say how to do it. As DNS is not currently installed
I
| am lacking the option in Administration tools.
|
|
| Thanks in Advance
|
| Susan
