Re: Adprep

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Actually there is no such thing as a "BDC" in AD. They operate in
multi-master mode except for the 5 FSMO roles.

Is it safe to run ADPrep on a PDC while in production? If not, what are
the
risks?

You would run the adprep on the schema master for your existing domain.

I don't think it requires a reboot.

I'm adding a Windows 2003 server to my network and the PDC is running
Windows
2000. We don't plan on upgrading the PDC yet and we want to make the new
Win2k3 server a BDC. This means we have to run ADPrep, so I have a few
questions about this.

Does ADPrep require a reboot?
