Migrating Member Server to VM
Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance
Hi,
i want to migrate an existing Windows 2003 member server in our domain
containing many local groups to a virtual machine under VMWare ESX running
Windows 2003 R2 in the same domain.
I copied the files structure with robocopy including NTFS-Security from the
old server to the new.
Then I copied the local groups from the old server to the new server using
Hyena.
Now the problem is that the copied local groups got a new SID.
Of course this SID doesn't match the SID in the NTFS filestructures SID.
The only way I know to resolve this is to rename the local groups SID on the
file structure using Microsofts cacls.
But this is very complicated.
Do you know an easier way to do the migration?
