Re: dhcp on 2 domains simultaneously

Hi,

As an easy way, you can combine them into one subnet. That is mean , the
client in the two domain can use the IP in the same subnet.

Thanks.

vincent,
that is not what i meant to say. i wanted to know what the dhcp scope
settings on the server would be?

No, client obtain ip from dhcp via broadcast. So, the 2003 dhcp will
provide ip for any request.

Thanks.

I have read other q&a on this topic. I have 2 domains (one w2k, one
w2k3). My goal is to move all users from the w2k domain to the w2k3
domain over the next few months. I have dc's setup in both domains on
my network. they are using the same subnet. It seems with this
scenario, i can only have one dhcp server. I will have users needing
to authenticate to both domains until the entire migration is
completely done. if i put the single dhcp server on the 2003 dc for
all users to obtain an ip address, how does each user, no matter the
domain, authenticate properly with the right dns, etc?
assuming i can do this, what specfically are the scope option
parameters i need to put in the 2003 dhcp server that will work for
both domains? example: for domain name, what do i put in the dhcp
settings? no domain?
thanks for the help.
