Hi,
For file server migration, I'd like to suggest you use following tool:
Microsoft File Server Migration Toolkit
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/upgrading/nt4/tooldocs/msfsc.mspx
Thanks.
Best regards,
Vincent Xu

I began the migration, by creating the image of the existing file server,
but unfortunately it failed saying DHCP is unavailable.
I Assigned manually the IP,but it did not work.
The server does not let me make an image....!!!!!! period
I am using WINPE/GHOST as the imaging software
Can anyone outline the whole process starting from the backup to the
signoff(post-migration) in this case.
I want to do a very thorough job here
Please advise

Hi Paul,
You noticed the main point:
You have to re-direct client to access the share with a new name. I
anyyou are right that a script could be a good idea. However, if you need
newsgroup:assistance at script side, I'd like to suggest you post at MSDN
rights.

Thanks.

Dear Experts,
Need your advice.
Basically I have a file server.
This server has shares.. which are actually repositories for users that
changetheir documents over the network.
Now we are consolidating the domains, basically I have to do a domain
and rename the server to comply with the new corporate naming
sp4)at
this location. In other words the server hardware & OS(W2K advanced
useris
same but just a domain change and a rename is being done here
Can anyone outline the procedures that will have minimal impact on the
thecommunity(wishful thinking:).
Also do you think I need to write a vbs script to redirect the users to
pushedserver(as it will be different domain and server name now)
Or can I use a simple drive mapping command such as net share to be
to the clients to do the trick.
Thanks
Paul
