Hi,

You can put the member server offline but I still suggest you put them
online.

As well as , it is no matter you put it online or offline, the memeber
server will become to be a memeber in new domain. To avoid any issue during
the upgrade process, I suggest you put a BDC offline.

I suggest you refer to following article first:

Thanks.

Hello There,

Currently we have a Windows NT4.0 domain with 1 PDC, 2BDC's, 2 file
servers & 15 member servers with web application running where the
authentication is tied to NT domain using NTLM.

We are planning for AD upgrade (in-place) and i wanted to know whether
during the upgrade process does all the member server need to be
on-line so that it can get the changes with regards to AD or it can be
off-line and then once the AD is up can those be brought online.

I am asking this because if the upgrade fails and meantime those member
servers has already updated to AD, we might have to disjoin & rejoin NT
domain which i am not comfortable doing that because of the file server
access control.

If any one have undergone this type of in-place upgrade pl let me know
the right way of doing it.
