5. Is there any problem with allowing an AD implementation to co-exist
for a time with the old NT domain on the same subnet without the NT
domain being part of the Active Directory?

All of the "coexisting" references I've seen refer to 2003 and NT
domain controllers on the same AD domain (i.e. "mixed mode"), but
that's not what I mean. What I'm talking about is an NT domain that AD
users can interact with and connect to resources there but the NT
domain itself is not in the Active Directory.

My goal is that eventually everything is in AD, but I'd like to set up
the pristine forest and start moving users and machines there without
having to do it all at once. What will I face if I try to do that?
