Thanks for the quick reply.

I am in fact doing an upgrade and not a migration. If my assumption that
computers and users can't share names is wrong, that is great. I have 2
servers and 70 workstations that have the same name as a user. I was
going to
rename all the workstations anyway.

My concern was with the servers. Example: SERVER1 needs domain\server1
user
logged on for apps to run.

If it's legal and safe, I'll keep them the same.

Hi,

Actually, you can create a computer account with the same name as a
user
account. Please let me know your concerns in detail.

Thanks.

We will be migrating NT to srv2003 soon. I have 2 domain user
accounts
that
have the same name as 2 servers. There are web services that run
under
these
accounts' authority so these 2 users must be logged on to the servers
of
the
same name at all times. Horrible design I know but that's what I
have.
I assume that AD will not like objects that share the same name. Do I
assume
correctly?
I am trying to figure out whether renaming the users or the servers
will
be
less of a headache.
