RE: Windows Server 2003 Shuts down laptop during install

Hello,

Thank you for your post!

From your description I wonder if you want to install a dual boot system.
Normally, it is recommended that you perform a clean installation of
Windows Server 2003.
If you need to perform a parallel installation of Windows Server 2003, I
suggest you perform the installation according to the following article:

266465 How to perform a parallel installation of Windows 2000 or Windows
Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;266465

Hope the information helps.

Best Regards,

Jason Tan

| Hi there ppl, need some advice/help here.
|
| I am trying to install windows server 2003 on my laptop which was
pre-loaded
| with windows XP home. Ive run the windows installer to create a fresh
install
| of server 2003, but after the laptop reboots to copy files over to the
HDD in
| DOS, everything goes fine until it completes the file copying process and
the
| "press enter to proceed" screen appears (you know, when you agree to
terms
| and conditions, etc) then just all of a sudden the laptop shuts down....
and
| i have to begin the process all over again.
|
| The laptop in question is an Acer Aspire 1642wlmi and the spec is:
|
| Pentium M 740 1.73 ghz
| 512mb Ram
|
| Any help would be much appreaciated.
