Re: access to Server 2K3

Hi Jason,

thanks a lot for answering....
Well..at the bigin I had W2K DC server...then I added W2K3 server in the
same domain and I'm migrating all roules, file share and printers to the new
W2K.
All works fine with PCs that are in my domain and also for PCs the are in
workgroup, they can access share in both servers with same credentials.
The problem is that now I have some PCs of a different domain in my
LAN...yes, I know, it's not a good thinnk but it's for 3 months. From those
PCs I can access W2K server shares and printers queues using an account
created in AD but I cannot access shares and printers queues on W2K3, using
the same credentials or using the domain administrator account....the system
contiues to show me the connection window.
I input the correct username and password....DOMAIN\USERNAME.....

Hello,

Thanks for posting!

From your post It seems that it is hard to determine the relationship
between the Win2k and Win2k3 DCs. Are they in a single domain, and Win2k3
is an additional DC? OR, they are two diffferent domain? Is the trust
relationship between the two domains in place? If you want to access the
share resource in a domain from a workstation which is not in that domain,
it is expected that you need to provide credential to access the share.
Have you input a correct domain user name and password in the Win2k3
domain?

Best Regards,

Jason Tan

| Hi all,
|
| I have 2 servers DC, one 2K and the other 2K3.
| I have installed 2K3 after 2K and I'm migrating all to 2K3, files
shares,
| printers, DNS, DHCP....
| The problem is that if I try to connect to 2K3 with a domain user (also
| domain admin user) from a PC not in domain, the access is refused, I
can't
| connect, no errors, only the system continues to require user and
password.
| No problems accessing 2K.
|
| any ideas?
|
| Thank you
