RE: Replacing Existing 2003 DC

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello,

Thanks for posting!

I would like to provide you with an example below for your reference:

1. Install Windows 2K3 on a new machine.
2 Make this machine an member server to the existing Windows 2K3 domain.
3. Run dcpromo and make it a domain controller for the existing domain.
4. Plan your DNS. Will it be on the new DC or another machine.
5. Move all FSMO rolls to the new domain controller.
6. Run dcpromo to demote the existing Windows 2K3 DC.
