Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello,

Thanks for posting!

Yes, the plan looks good. Note: You'd better backup all the important data.
More information below is for your reference:

| I have an NT4 domain to upgrade with DNS installed on the PDC (primary
DNS)
| and BDC. Is there any problems that I may encounter when running an in
place
| upgrade with this configuration.
|
| Also, this is something like the upgrade plan I intended to use, would
this
| be best practice?
|
| Build additional Windows NT 4.0 backup domain controller.
| Promote additional BDC to PDC, which demotes the PDC to a BDC.
| Do a full back of, and turn off the former PDC, now BDC, and remove from
| network.
| Upgrade the new PDC to Windows 2000, and go through the Active Directory
| wizard.
| You now have a functioning Windows 2000 AD with all your users, groups,
and
| machine account included.
| Run for a while until satisfied itâ??s functionality.
| Build clean Windows 2000 build on the old PDC, and upgrade it to an AD
| domain controller.
| Transfer all FSMO roles to the new, clean 2000 DC, and make sure all the
| directory info has replicated.
| Demote the additional DC to a member server, and remove from the domain.
| Result - Functioning Windows 2000 domain with AD based a clean-built AD
| controller, with all previous Windows NT 4.0 domain information.
|
| Thanks
