Re: Novell 4.11 -> Win 2003 AD migration

In a login script this would add 10.10.10.1 as a DNS server entry.

Perhaps I misunderstood your question?

| And my question is a how to specify a dns server on a lot of users
PCs,

I'm sorry but I can't understand how to use it for a group of PCs, I can't
expect and ip for every PC

Plain old netsh should work;

netsh interface ip add dns "Local Area Connection" 10.10.10.1

Yes, you're right a dhcp server will solve a cup of problems, but we
don't solve a mainly problem - how to automatically change a
ip adress assignment using login script of novell?

I'm sorry but Windows Resourse Kit for Windows 2003 have a moveuser.exe
utylity, I mean this one.
Maybe you mean that Windows 2000 doesn't have it?

D:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools>moveuser.exe

Command Line Syntax:

moveuser <user1> <user2> [/y] [/c:computer] [/k]

Description:

moveuser.exe changes the security of a profile from one user to
another.
This allows the account domain to change, and/or the user name to
change.

Arguments:

user1 Specifies a user who has a local profile.
user2 Specifies the user who will own user1's profile. This
account must exist.
/y Allow overwrite of existing profile.
/c Specifies the computer to make the changes to.
/k Specifies if user1 is a local user, then the user account
should be kept.

Specify domain users in DOMAIN\USER format. Specify only USER for
local accounts.

As to the second question we do not provide such tool to migrate local
user
accounts. I suggest you use MSVR-Migrator to migrate local user
accounts.
You may refer to the following information.

| We preparing to migration and I have a cup of questions.
| When AD will be installed we need to move users accounts from a local
system
| auth to domain auth.
| Now we have a manually assigned ip and NO one DNS specified.
| So, for adding PCs to domain we need to specify at least one dns
server
of
| our domain, and gracefully join the domain.
| And my question is a how to specify a dns server on a lot of users
PCs, I
| think that it should use a Netware Login Script, but I don't know
what is
| command or script could it be.
| My second question is about an utility moveuser.exe, how to use it in
a
| login script to move all win xp/2k local system account users to a
domain
| account without any lost of data or functionality.
| Big thanks to any answers.
