RE: 2003 Migration Compatibility Wizard reporting SBS 2000

Hello,

Thanks for posting!

Based on my research I suggest you check if you have the following registry
key.

HKLM\Software\Micorosft\Small Business

If so, please delete it and restart the computer and upgrade again.

More information for your reference:

Supported Upgrade Paths

Hope the information helps.

| I have a real problem. I'm trying to upgrade a server that I KNOW is (and
| always was) Windows 2000 Server but when I try the 2003 upgrade
compatibility
| test, I get an error saying "Windows Setup does not support upgrading
from
| Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 to Microsoft Windows Server 2003,
| Enterprise Edition.
| Setup cannot continue.". I DON'T have SBS 2000 on the box! I need to know
if
| I can detect what the compatibility wizard is detecting and see if I can
| remove it. I know I can do a full reinstall but I want to avoid this if I
| can, and use the standard upgrade wizard from W2k to W2k3. Any help from
2003
| users on how the WIZARD detects the "ghosts" of SBS 2000?
|
| The ONLY thing I can think of is that my predecessor MAY have installed
SQL
| Server from the SBS disks onto the W2K machine. I'm not even sure you can
do
| this, but if it is possible, could that have left some bizarre relics?
I've
| uninstalled SQL server now and the upgrade wizard still won't play ball.
The
| machine is reporting itself as W2K and has none of the applications
| associated with SBS 2000 that I can see - for all the world, it's a W2K
| machine. We have multiple web sites in IIS etc etc
|
| Any help would be greatly appreciated! The sooner the better...oops,
there
| goes another tuft of hair!
|
| Thanks in anticipation,
| J
|
