Re: Workstation Migration

Hi Wilson,

Thanks for your reply!

Pleaes excuse for my delay. At this point, I can fully understand that the
issue is critical to you and ADMT is not a solution in a real situation.
Therefore, I would like to suggest you refer to the following KB to restore
the user profile on the workstations.

811151 How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811151

Hope the information helps. If there is anything that is unclear, please
feel free to let me know.

Thanks & Regards,

Jason Tan

| Hello Jason,
|
| Thanks for you advise. But I am going to become crazy on migrating user
| profile on workstation. In fact, we create user accounts on win2k3 domain
| manually by csvde.exe. Therefore sid on NT4 will be gone and a new sid
will
| be created for Win2k3 domain.
|
| If my logical thinking is correct, when I use "Copy to:" function for
| copying a profile from user_A.NTdomain to user_A.Win2k3domain, then
Win2k3
| domain cannot identify the profile of user_A.NTdomain, since they are
| different sid.
|
| But the interesting thing is, if I grant user_A to become a Domain Admin
in
| Domain Controller, user_A profile can work good and user_A can get back
his
| wallpaper, full controller on his account.
|
| If I really need the full controller on user_A's workstation, but retain
| user_A has Domain User accessr right and I cannot use ADMT (since my head
| office has not given me a Domain Admin right), how can I retain and
migrate
| the user profile? Thanks Jason.
|
| B.regards,
| Wilson
