RE: NT 4.0 migration to 2003 AD

Hello,

Thank you for posting.

I understand you want to migrate 5 NT 4.0 domains to new Win2k3 domain.
However, you move the storage unit from NT 4.0 to Windows 2003, no trust
relationship between domains
Network Attached storage to the DC's is Network Appliance - I mention this
as the appliances 'join' the domain - so users are maintained in the DC,
yet file, folder and local group permissions are retained on the appliance
- acting much like a member server.

Based on your description, I still have some questions related this and
please help me confirm the following questions so that I can perform
further research on this issue:

1. You mentioned Network Attached storage to the DC's is Network Appliance.
Is the storage unit working through DC?
2. This as the appliances 'join' the domain - so users are maintained in
the DC, yet file, folder and local group permissions are retained on the
appliance - acting much like a member server. Do you mean this appliance
has its own OS and act as a file member server?
3. Could you let me know the name of the storage appliance?

Second, I would provide some information related how to perform migration
from WinNT to Win2k3 by using ADMT. By using ADMT to migrate, you can
choose migrate sids to target domain in every migration wizard:

You can download ADMT from the link below:

If you want to migrate file server to 2k3 domain, you can use FSMT to
achieve the goal:

HTH!

>Three AD forests have already been established, duplicating the same user
names, and groups. We have a listing of all the NT 4 SIDs for each object,
and since their is no trust between NT 4.0, or any of the 3 AD forests, the
new SID for the object.

>How can we easily move the storage unit from NT 4.0 to Windows 2003 - we
know we need to restamp all the files, and folders on the storage with the
former new sid, and for the user's and groups in AD, restamp with the
former sid as well as recreate all the shares.
>I've seen a number of utilities, but they focus on actually moving the
data - no data is moved, the storage is simply joined to the AD structure -
with almost 900 TB of data.
