RE: migration help

Hello,

Thanks for your post.

I understand you want to know how to migrate from a WinNT domain to a
Win2003 domain. If I have misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

Based on your statement, you want to migrate into a new domain instead of
an in-place upgrade and move users and computers to the new domain.
Generally, we use a tool called ADMT to achieve this goal.

For more reference related to ADMT:

During migration, you suggest you use the migration order in Figure 9.8 in
the following website:

Domain Migration Cookbook

/cookchp9.mspx

About the question you mentioned below:
If ADS have to have windows DNS\DHCP for it to work properly... currently
those services are carried out by a couple unix stations, and did not know
if it would need to be migrated as well..

First, I want to confirm with you the meaning of ADS. Does it Active
Directory Service or Automated Deployment Services? If it is former, of
course DNS\DHCP is needed. The following article tells us how to move DNS
to Win2k3:

Pay more attention to the section of Moving BIND-based files

Related DHCP migration from UNIX to Win2k3, based on my research and
experience, it is impossible and I suggest you installed DHCP in Add\Remove
Programs manually.

HTH!

Thanks & Regards
