This is a follow-up to an inquiry I made to server migration and newtorking
newsgroups requesting help with this issue. I know at least one other
person reported the same issue. Here is what I found out...

Background: After performing a dynamic upgrade to 2003 Standard Edition, I
had two services which refuse to start: RRAS and Vertias Backup Exec.

I found an event log entry with an error posted with the following: "The
database specified does not exist" for BackupExec. For RRAS, the following
message and event log entry was: "An error occured while trying to make a
connection with the datastore" and "The Routing and Remote Access service
terminated with service-specific error 127 (0x7F)".

Both of these event entries and the associated message led me to run the
mdac component checker (see KB article 307255 for more information). The
checker shows a mismatch with the OLEDB32.DLL at 2.7 while the rest of mdac
is at 2.8 RTM.

This problem is described by Knowledge Base article 837128
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;837128).

Using the steps proscribed in KB 837128 to upgrade OLEDB32.DLL to the 2.8
RTM version resolved *both* problems.

I hope this helps.
