Hi Juneday,
Your understanding is correct that static IP address and DNS suffix will be
changed since you want to migrate to a new domain.
Technically speaking, we don't use static IP address in a network with more
than 1K clients. I suggest you use DHCP to automatically assign the IP
address after you migrate those 1000 clients from NT to win2k3 domain. You
can install DHCP service on win2k3 DC and create the scope to assign the
correct IP address subnet, DNS suffix and all staffs. When the client
starts up, they will send the broadcast to find the DHCP server in the
network to get the correct IP address etc.
Please NOTE: you need to set the client to obtain the IP address
automatically. Please open the Local network connections properties->TCP IP
properties->Check Obtain the IP address automatically.
Since you have 1000 clients, I suggest you add a DHCP server in the
exsiting network, and use script to change the static IP to Obtain the IP
address automatically. You can use netsh command to change this setting.
After that, you then use ADMT to perform the migration process.
Any update, let us get in touch!

Rebecca Chen
