Hi Len,
Thanks for your reply.
If you do not want to keep the domain name, it is recommend that you
perform migration. You can first install Windows 20003 on the new box and
create the new domain with the name you desired. Then try ADMT tool to
migrate all user accounts and computers to the new domain.
If you wound like to upgrade the NT PDC, it will be better that you demote
it to member server or reinstall it as member server. Then upgrade to
Windows 2003 so that you can join it to the new Windows 2003 domain as DC.
Have a nice day!

Bob Qin

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your response. I don't want to keep the old domain name
but I
have another question.
I have reckecked the NT 4.0 PDC and found that it has a 4GB system
partition
which I think is big enough for Win2003.
Is it OK to do an upgrade of that box to Win2003?
I have already configured AD on a new machine and configured it as a
DC. If
I upgrade the old NT 4.0 PDC can I change the domain name (to the new
domain
name) during the upgrade?
I look forward to your response.
Regards
Len
