Hi Pauline,

Adprep /Foresteprep and ADprep /Domainprep in Exchange and Windows 2k3 are
different.

The reason you need to run exchange Adprep /Foresteprep is addressed in the
following KB:
314649 Windows Server 2003 adprep /forestprep Command Causes Mangled
Attributes
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314649

If you have these three objects, you need to run adprep /forestprep command
before you upgrade Exchange 2k to 2k3.

Before you upgrade win2k to win2k3 DC, you need to run adprep /forestprep
located in the win2k3 installation CD, this command extends win2k schema to
win2k3, it will not conflict with Exchange.

I suggest you take a look at the following article to upgrade win2k DC to
win2k3:

How to upgrade Windows 2000 domain controllers to Windows Server 2003

Any update, let us get in touch!

Best regards,

Rebecca Chen
