Hi Alex,
This issue seems uncommon. I have a couple of questions regarding to this
issue:
1. Do you mean the win2k3 server DC migrated from NT shutdown very slowly
if you join Dell 1850s and 750s into win2k3 domain?
2. Are Dell 1850s and 750s member servers or you have promoted them to be
an additional DC?
3. Does this issue immediately disappear if you disjoin Dell 1850s and 750s
from Win2k3 domain?
I suggest you use the following steps to isolate this issue:
Step 1: Keep Dell 1850s and 750s join the domain.
NOTE: Before take any action, please empty the Event logs.
1. Refer to the following KB to perform a Clean Boot on win2k3 sever,
disable all startup items and non-MS services. The steps are the same in
win2k3:
Q310353 How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q310/3/53.asp
2. Bring up the Services by key in "services.msc" in Run box
3. Disable SQL Server service and set it startup "manually", also set
Exchange service not to startup. If you have other main application
service, please do the same steps.
4. Shutdown immediately, how long does it take?
5. Save the event logs, zip them and named it Join.
Step 2: Disjoin Dell server from the domain.
NOTE: Before take any action, please empty the Event logs.
Repeat the same process as step1, shutdown the DC, how long does it take?
Save the event logs, zip them and named it as Disjoin.
As you know, it will take some time to shutdown the DC if there are many
processes running. The machine need to shutdown all process, save the
settings and shutdown the machine.
If win2k3 DC takes much long time in step 1, please refer to the following
article to enable verbos shutdown. Reproduce this issue, please observe
which process takes long time during shutdown.

Any update, let us get in touch!
