      thanks for the info. installed wins on my temp w2k box as Scoot
mentioned,
      and stopped the browser services on it, and the w3k member.
      i am now able to join workstations to the domain.
      
       In addition, after you upgrade Windows 2003 domain, you need a
Windows
       2000/2003 DNS server to support Active Diretory.

      Just curious if you would know this, but when i browse the network on
a w2k
      or xp box, i can see all my servers including the temporary w2k
server, but
      i cannot see the w3k server on the network for some reason, is there
another
