Hello Customer,

Thanks for your posting here.

>From the information in the post, I suggest take ownership of these folders
first as Dana has mentioned. To do so, refer to the following steps:

1. From Explore window, navigate to the proper folder, right-click and open
its Properties.

2. Click the "Security" tab, and then click "Advanced".

3. Click the "Owner" tab, and then click "Administrators
(<Servername>\Administrators)" or other account.

4. Click to select the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" check
box, and then click "OK".

When you have the permissions, you can then modify the settings on the
folders.

Hope this helps! Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards
Alan Sun

I'm in the middle of bringing up a new 2003 in a one server 2000
server
enviornment: I had just got both servers working, I copied all the old
files
to the new server and changed everyone's mappings to the new server.

Monday I caught my receptionist with a new mapping to
the old server! So I removed the mapping (whoops she still had a
spread*** open...lost it) Then I went to the server room and
pondered: How do I keep everyone off of the old stuff? So I went to
security and deny'd "everyone" all seven or so rights. Then I found
out about the lost file, and went to look for it as Administrator:
Nope! I don't have permission to that folder. Don't have permission to
change that folder. Can't figure out a way to replicate any permission
to that folder. I tried to reverse the deny . . but it seems like I've
got 30 folders and a bunch of files scattered around that I can't
access. Granted, the new copies are safe on the new server, it is just
the few files that people managed to place out there on Monday morning
     I can't get to.

ActionPoint: How do I get to these Prohibited directories?
