I am at a loss. dont know if its the lack of sleep or what but i have a
serious issue at hand.
We are currently in the proccess of replacing the physical hardware of one
of our "site servers". normally i will load them with nt and ship to the
local contact but, this time i thought i would be smart and load 2k3. the
situation is that we are currently locked into keeping everyone on our NT
domain until our parrent company is ready to switch to AD. i did not think
this would be a issue at first as this server is basicly just a file and
print box. i had our local guy lay down the most recent backup tape and was
hopping all i had to do was recreate the shares. unfortantly we noticed that
no one could access any of the files now. they see the shares and file/dir
names but are having security issues. we think we finnaly narrowed it down to
the fact that we normaly use domain local groups for file access at the ntfs
level. i was confuseed at first becouse when i look at the properties on one
of these folders on the new box i still see the correct settings including
the group name and settings. my thinking is that i need to move these groups
to a domain global group.
any thoughts, suggestions?
its realy starting to piss me off as we are so close but yet so far.
Thanks!
