Hi Jason,

What I thought is to establish another computer with Win2K3 installed. Use
DCPROMO to promote this computer to Domain Controller, the first domain
controller of the new domain of the new forest. After that, use Active
Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) V2 to migrate all Users, Groups and
Computer accounts from the old domain to the new one. In general, ADMT will
dispatch the agent to each client. Such agent can help the client to rejoin
the new domain.

For detailed information about ADMT, you may read the below articles in
Microsoft knowledge.

Migration

Please try the above method in test environment before upgrading the
running NT4 PDC.
Have a nice day!

| Feng,
|
| Thanks so much for replying to my post.
|
| Your answer to my second questions was:
| > The NetBIOS name of intxxx.com should be intxxxx. So all clients might
need
| > to rejoin the domain.
|
| This is what I am trying to avoid, but I have a test that I have been
going
| through our upgrade path. I have test client systems authenticating to my
PDC
| then I perform the upgrade. Once the upgrade is complete, and I run
through
| the AD wizard, my client systems are still able to log into the domain
with
| it being named intxxx.com. Maybe I am doing something wrong you think?
Thanks
| again.
