You can try theset steps.

1. Perform a full backup for the existing Windows NT PDC.
2. Install Windows NT 4.0 BDC on the temp server and apply the latest
Service Pack.
3. In Server Manager, promote the BDC to PDC.
4. In-place upgrade the new server to Windows Server 2003 and install AD.
5. Offline the original PDC and delete the computer account in domain.
6. Install the new Windows Server 2003 using the same name as the original
PDC and join to domain.
7. Promote to DC.
8. Transfer all the FSMO roles and services to the new DC.

      Thanks for your messages.
      May be yours way is better for me, but i want keep old server working
during
      all operations... So, I tried to use ADMT and other migration tools
to move
      all roles to brand new server:
      -PDC
      -wins-server
      -dhcp-server
      -proxy-server
      -exchange-server
      -file-server
      -print-server
      ...
      But it's impossible, I see.

      Can you tell me, if I will use 3 computers to make upgrade:
      1. NT4 PDC (old) -> NT4 file-app-print-server -> Not a server
      2. NT4 BDC -> NT4 PDC -> Win2003 -> Not a server
      3. Win2003 ->
Single
      Win2003 Server
      Can I set to third (target) server first server's name? Or I can
rename that
      server later, after moving to third server all roles (file-, print-,
      proxy-server and so on)? I need keep all client computer's sets
unchanged
      (like links and MSP Client settings).
      Can you recommend order of all migration operations?
