    Hi,

    Thank you for posting!

    >From the following article:

810613 Supported Paths for Upgrading to Windows Server 2003 or to Windows
    Small
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=810613

The only supported upgrade path from a Windows Server 2003, Web Edition is
    itself.

    Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
    --------------------------------
    - Windows Server 2003, Web Edition

This means it cannot be upgraded to any other OS.

The correct way to do the migration should be:

    1. Use the IIS Migrate tool to migrate these web sites to another win2k
    server.
    2. Rebuild the Web Edition system to a Standard Edition.
    3. Migrate the web sites back to the original machine.

The tool is provided as a free download:

    Overview
The Internet Information Services 6.0 Migration Tool is a command line tool
that automates several of the steps needed to move a Web application from
IIS 4.0, IIS 5.0 or IIS 6.0 to a clean installation of Internet Information
Services (IIS) 6.0. The tool transfers configuration data, Web site
content, and application settings to a new IIS 6.0 server. Migrating
applications to IIS 6.0 enables organizations to take advantage of the new
fault-tolerant architecture available in IIS 6.0 and other features that
increase Web server reliability, performance, and security.

If you have any further questions regarding the usage of this tool, please
post to the IIS newsgroup below:

    Hope it helps!

We have quite a few sites and applications running on it, so we cannot
afford to have to rebuild. MS states it is not supported, but am wondering
if anyone out there has found a workaround or other solution.

    Thanks in advanced.
