Hello,

Thank you for posting here.

Based on my research, it seems that external trust is not transitive. You
need to establish external trust directly to the NT domain.

For more information you may browse the following web sites:

I hope the information proves helpful!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to let me know. I am glad
to be of assistance.
Thanks and regards,

| We are planning to upgrade from a NT4 domain environment to Windows2003
AD in a new forest. We currenlty have a two way trust with our parent
company who is running on Windows2000 AD in Mixed . Our parent company also
has a trust with another NT4 Domain. Our goal is to be able to share
resources and authenticate accross domains, including the NT4 domain that
our parent company trust. During my NT4 to Windows2003 upgrade should i
select mixed or interim mode? Wich mode would allow me to setup a
transitive trust between us and our parent company allow us to share
resources accross domains and authenticate across domains including the NT4
domain that our parent company trusts? Also what changes must I do to our
integrated DNS server to be able resolve hosts accross domains? Any help on
this would be great. Thanks in advance.
