Good day.
We have 5 locations each with their own Domain. The
corporate headquarters (Domain1) has a PDC and BDC with
about 100 users. The remote offices have just one PDC
with an average of about 10 - 20 users. The corporate
headquarters has a two way trust with each remote domain.
I would like to migrate all NT 4.0 domains to a single AD
2003 (corporate.local), as well as have a DC at each site
for replication. Only the corporate heaquarters is
getting new hardware for two new DC's.
Method:
I will install the first piece of hardware as an NT 4.0
BDC, promote it to the PDC and allow replication to fully
take affect. Then we will do an in place upgrade to 2003,
which will create the corporate.local. All trust should
still be in place (correct?).
What is the best way to bring these other domains into the
corporate.local domain, eliminating the old remote domain
and configuring the old remote PDC's as 2003 domin
corporate.local domain controllers?
Is it best to use the ADMT for all these users and
computers and then rebuild the old remote PDC into a 2003
Domain controller?
I appreciate the help. Everyone's situation is different
and it somewhat difficult to pick pieces from each post on
here.
Thanks,
Ritch
