Hello Charles,

Thank you for your post.

I think that using the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT) should be the
best solution. With this tool, we can migrate most of the domain data from
one domain to another: We can migrate the accounts first and then migrate
the client computers from the server where the ADMT is installed. (Please
choose to translate local profiles when migrating the computers.)

For more information regarding ADMT, please refer to:

DomainMig.chm in the ADMT installation folder (this file contains good
information).

325851 HOW TO: Set Up ADMT for a Windows NT 4.0-to-Windows Server 2003
Migration
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=325851

Note:

1. The migration is a complicated task. Please perform complete backup
first and test the migration in your lab environment first.

2. We cannot use this tool to migrate domain controllers.

3. Please only install ADMT on one system for a migration between two
domains.

If you need more information regarding this tool, please do not hesitate to
let me know. I will be happy to be of further assistance.

Thank you for your time and cooperation!

Joe Wu

|We are moving 1200 workstations from an NT4 domain to a Windows 2003 active
|directory. I know how to move the workstations from the NT domain to the
|2003 domain, but how do you recreate the user profile so when they log into
|the new domain they see their old desktop and data on the workstation?
|
|Does anyone have any tools they would recommend to move the workstations
and
|20 servers from NT to the 2003 domain?
|
|Thanks for your help in advance.
