Thanks for your posting here.

What is your finally purpose? Will you still use the NT 4 domain and keep
the Win 2000 file server in NT 4 domain?

If you will move the file server to Windows 2003 domain, I recommend that
you move all the user account and Domain Groups to the target domain. Then
add the certain global groups to the domain local group.

In Windows NT 4 domain, you can temporarily add all the global groups in
permission.
