We have a small network of about 40 users, running off a Dell 1400SC
Win2K Server. We have no backup server, so if the server goes down
we're screwed until we get it back up again.

Two main things I'd like to do, but don't know the best approach or
even if it's doable...

First, upgrade the Win2K server to Server 2003 - recommendations for
the best approach?

Then build a second server in such a way that it will synchronize with
the primary server, say once a day. In the event that the primary goes
down we can promote this machine to be the domain controller while we
recover the main server. When that is done, demote the backup server
to the original configuration.

Is this, or something like it, possible? Main thing is we don't want
to spend much money to do it...

TIA

Trevor
