Bob, thanks for all your help, I appreciate you responding so quickly.
However, it seems as though I have hit a roadblock. I am not sure if
it is the network driver or what, but during the NT4 installation, I
can't get the server to find my PDC. "The domain controller for this
domain cannot be located" is the error I get. It is about to drive me
nuts, I have tried all the drivers for the network card (Broadcom
NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Driver), NT recognizes the card, DHCP and
static IP, both ethernet ports on the back of the machine, and I just
can't get it to find the PDC. I also did the LMHOSTS file, adding
importing this to the LMHOSTS:
192.168.10.2 HM_SERVER #PRE #DOM:HM_DOMAIN #net group's
DC
Maybe the net driver requires SP6? Is there a way to install NT4 with
no network support, do the SP6 update, then set it as a BDC? I don't
recall this being the case.
What should I do as a next step, call Dell tech support?
